“I became legally blind earlier this year, and I have been searching for different hobbies that are accessible for visually impaired people. I used to build LEGO sets when I was a kid and loved it. Bricks for the Blind’s instructions were easy to follow and made it possible for me to build LEGO sets again! This proves that with a little bit of adaptability, blind and visually impaired people can do anything! I can’t wait to build more LEGO sets with the help of Bricks for the Blind instructions.”

“I love building LEGO sets.  As an adult, this is the first time ever that I have independently been able to complete LEGO sets as a blind builder.  I love building to relax as well as the satisfaction I get – particularly when I have finished a large / complex build.”

“I love building castles. This one was a challenge because of all of the little pieces, but i did it! I am very glad these instructions were available in an accessible format because a finished piece means more to me when I have done it by myself.

As a blind child, I never thought I’d be able to build a LEGO set. Thanks to Bricks for the Blind, I can enjoy building LEGO sets as an adult, which has been rewarding in so many ways! I have become more confident in spatial concepts, learned about car engines, experienced scenes from some of my favorite movies, and felt a huge sense of accomplishment and independence. I also build with my sighted child, which gives us an activity that we can enjoy together, without my blindness being a barrier.
